is the Director of Theatres at Suffolk County Community College. Charles holds an MFA in Scenic Design from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. A member of United Scenic Artists, he assisted on Broadway shows (Little Me, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, The Sound of Music, Jitney, The Judas Kiss, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Marlena, Lion In Winter , among others) and as a freelance designer on the "off- "off-off scene" (John Montgomery Theatre Company, Encompass Music Theatre, Metropolitan Playhouse and others). He has designed regionally at the New Jersey and Texas Shakespeare Festivals, Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC, The Classic Stage Company, The Unicorn Theatre in Kansas City and many, many others. SCCC credits include Director for The School for Scandal, Godspell and Guys and Dolls and Set Designer for The Rose of Treason and A Midwinter Night's Dream . Charles established The Long Island Shakespeare Festival (now in its seventh year) at SCCC. Charles was Set Designer for the inaugural season of the festival's production of Romeo and Juliet , and continues to serve as Executive Director and principle Scenic Designer of LISF. |
