We begin the eleven week semester of Fundamentals classes with the simplest nuts-and-bolts exercises in believability, proceed gradually to short improvisations, and then (but only when the actors are ready!) pick up our first scripts. The fundamental skills of concentration, sense memory, emotional recall, characterization, voice, and projection are introduced. As a culminating project, everyone is assigned a five-to-ten minute scene from a film or play.
We rehearse these patiently, test them in front of the class, and then perform them for up to 50 guests.
